Democracy Indices

Democracy is more than elections. The Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) project measures it across dozens of dimensions — from how freely citizens can organize and speak, to whether courts are independent, to how women are represented in political life. This visualization maps four of those indices across European countries, revealing patterns that would be invisible in a simple free/not-free classification.
