The Price of Space in London

London's property market is one of the most spatially unequal in the world. This visualization maps house price per square metre across the city's postcode districts from 1995 to 2024 — three decades that saw prices in some areas increase tenfold while others lagged far behind. Use the lenses to compare any two areas across any year in the dataset.

Price per square metre is a more meaningful comparison than raw sale price, since it accounts for differences in property size. The data combines Land Registry transaction records with floor area measurements from domestic Energy Performance Certificates.
