Climate Change

How much warmer are Nordic cities today compared to half a century ago? This proof-of-concept visualization compares average temperatures across Finnish, Norwegian, and Swedish cities between two periods: 1961–1971 and 2014–2024. Temperatures are sampled on the 1st and 15th of each month and averaged over each decade, providing a consistent basis for comparison.

The Nordic region has warmed faster than the global average, particularly in winter months and at higher latitudes. The patterns visible here reflect both the broad trend of Arctic amplification and the more complex local variations driven by proximity to the North Atlantic.
